SPF Private Clients – Equality & Diversity Policy

 

 

Purpose & Scope

This policy sets out the approach taken by SPF Private Clients (SPF) to equality and diversity.

SPF is committed to meritocracy, equality and inclusion. SPF aims to be an inclusive organisation, committed to providing equal opportunities throughout employment including recruitment, training and development and at the end of an individual’s employment.

SPF’s policy includes – but is not limited to – safeguarding those protected characteristics identified in the Equality Act 2010 and covers all aspects of SPF’s operations, including but not restricted to, pay and benefits, terms and conditions of employment, dealing with grievances and discipline, dismissal, redundancy, parental leave, flexible working, selection for promotion, training or other developmental opportunities.

The rights and obligations set out in this policy apply equally to all employees of SPF, whether part time or full time, on a substantive or fixed-term contract, and also to associated persons such as secondees, agency staff, contractors and others employed under a contract of service.

SPF is also committed to avoiding unlawful discrimination against clients and the general public.

This policy is reviewed at least annually.

 

SPF’s Commitment

Unlawful or unfair discrimination (including harassment) because of a protected characteristic will not be tolerated. These characteristics are:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender
  • Gender reassignment
  • Marriage and civil partnership
  • Pregnancy and maternity
  • Race (including ethnic origin, colour, nationality and national origin)
  • Religion and / or belief
  • Sexual orientation

No form of intimidation, bullying or harassment will be tolerated whether in relation to protected characteristics or otherwise and SPF aims to create an environment where individual differences and the contributions of all staff are recognised.

This commitment includes training all employees (including management) on their rights and responsibilities and ensuring that all staff understand that they personally, as well as the employer, can be held liable for acts in breach of this policy.

Allegations regarding potential breaches of this policy will be treated in confidence and investigated in accordance with the appropriate internal policies and procedures, as well as the appropriate legislation. SPF will ensure that individuals who make such allegations in good faith will not be victimised or treated less favourably as a result.

 

When does this policy apply?

This policy applies to all conduct in the workplace and also to conduct outside of the workplace that is related to your work (e.g. at meetings, social events and social interactions with colleagues) or which may impact on SPF’s reputation.

 

How is this policy implemented?

SPF’s Equality & Diversity Policy is fully supported by Senior Management.

Details of SPF’s grievance and disciplinary procedures can be found in the Employee Handbook – use thereof does not affect an employee’s right to make a claim to an employment tribunal within 3 months of the alleged discrimination.
